WORKING EXPERIENCE

1977 – 1979
Electrical Project Engineer with Hamersley Iron at Karratha.
Was involved in the management and design of upgrading the company iron ore handling plants at Dampier and Parabadoo including power generating and railways infrastructure.

1980 – 1987
Associate with CCD Australia.
During this time was responsible for the electrical design and documentation of numerous commercial, public, institutional and industrial facilities including;

  • 44,000 sq metre Myers Forrest Chase retail development
  • 60,000 sq metre Central Park office tower development
  • Alterations and Additions to the Karratha Airport including the new Passenger Terminal building and both Landside and Airside site work
  • 10,000 sq metre Corporate Headquarters for Alcoa at Booragoon
  • 6,000 sq metre Corporate Offices for Civil Aviation Authority at the Perth Airport.
  • Initial stage and subsequent stages of the Karratha College campus.
  • Many correctional facilities including the 300-cell Casaurina prison, 180-cell Banksia Hill Junvile centre, 150 cell Roebourne facility and the 250 cell Greenough facility and upgrade of existing prisons at Ararat and Barwon in Victoria.

1987 – 1997
Director of CCD Australia.
One of three directors managing a multi discipline consulting engineering practice with a staff average of 40 employees. Offices in Perth and Melbourne.

During this time was involved with the Myanmar Development Consortium, a group of Architects, Engineers and Building Contractors formed to develop projects in Myanmar. Undertook feasibility studies including the redevelopment of the Yangon airport and Air navigation infrastructure, Yangon to Mandalay Railway improvement, new shipping port at Thilawa and a $15 million upgrade to the National Telecommunication Network.

In 1995 negotiated a contract with the Bangalore State Government in India to undertake a feasibility study to provide a $20 million water recycling facility for the Bangalore water supply and sewerage Board. This study was completed but the plant did not proceed.

During 1996 formed and headed CCD Australia’ Building Asset Management consulting group offering specialist expertise, including the provision of energy management and building condition assessment services to Clients.

1998...
Formed own Company, HEGNEY CONSULTING ENGINEERS.
To undertake electrical engineering consulting work offering personal service with design documentation for building services, land sub division and the resources sectors.
